In 2008, the DCLG asked BSCF for guidance on the Kirpan. It was decided to hold a wide ranging consultation with Sikhs on this.
After a year of consultations, seven drafts and expert opinions. The BSCF guidance on Kirpan was developed for discussions with the Government. It was handed in 2009.
